The Synoptophore is normally used for the management of many disorders that arise within the field of strabismus and serves as key treatment, in conjunction with optical prescriptions.
It is manufactured with a pair of movable tubes (arms) with attached slides or telescopic sights that present images of each eye, by means of a mirror and an optical system. The images captured simulate the eye's distant visual function.
The images portray simultaneous vision (first grade); fusion (second grade), which is utilized for visual training on Functional Vergence deficiencies (FV); and lastly estereopsis (third grade) images. Applications are most frequently made for the Training of Functional Vergence Deficiencies.
