Prolonged exposure to the sun, sand, wind, and salt water can affect your vision and cause discomfort. Here are some key recommendations to take care of your eyes while enjoying the sea and the sand.

1. Wear sunglasses with UV protection
Ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage the cornea and increase the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration. Opt for sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. If you spend a lot of time at the beach, consider wraparound sunglasses for added side protection.

2. Avoid direct contact with the sand
Grains of sand can cause irritation or even damage the cornea if they get into your eyes. If this happens, avoid rubbing your eyes and rinse them with clean water.

3. Keep your eyes hydrated
Wind and sun can cause dry eyes. Carry artificial tears with you to maintain your eyes' natural moisture and relieve any dryness or irritation.

4. Be careful with seawater and pools.
Saltwater and chlorine in pools can cause eye irritation. If you are prone to irritation, consider wearing swimming goggles to avoid direct contact with these substances.

5. Avoid wearing contact lenses at the beach.
If you wear contact lenses, it is preferable to opt for prescription glasses to avoid infections caused by bacteria present in the water and sand. If you decide to wear them, choose daily disposable lenses and pair them with sunglasses.

By following these tips, you can enjoy the sun and the sea without compromising the health of your eyes. Remember that prevention is key to maintaining healthy vision in any environment.
